About the Global Governance Network

The “Globalisation and Governance Network” (GGN) is a Debate and Policy Research Forum promoted by Globus et Locus, a non profit Italian civil society organization dedicated to the study of glocalization as a new political phenomenon.

The GGN aims to contribute to an innovative and open agenda on global governance, a virtual demos which can lead to a better understanding of the areas of conflict between economic globalization and the domain of political action. The GGN looks at governance from a global perspective and links European governance concerns to global development issues. Its members are international public intellectuals, agents of global change and civil society organizations from North and South challenged by the issue of global governance.

The GGN promotes debate and stimulates the development of research nodes which can answer questions arising from its policy oriented debate. It concentrates on the following core issues of global governance:

  • the political challenges of glocalization
  • the identification and management of global public goods
  • possible architecture and emerging new models for international governance and
  • the role of non state actors in innovating and defining the governance agenda.

The GGN functions as a cooperative undertaking, operating mainly through the Web and operates as:

  • An interactive website hub; a forum for information, reflection and analysis on central issues of global governance
  • A clearing house for policy oriented proposals directed to national and regional policy makers engaged in the development of a governance policy agenda
  • A place for the promotion and facilitation of research nodes and networks linking foundations, international, regional and local policy makers concerned by global governance.
