New and Emerging Players in Global Governance
Globalization has diminished the strategic effectiveness of states in international politics but increased the political and economic role of two global players: transnational corporations and global civil society organizations. These different global actors have by-passed the logic of territorial politics in influencing the agenda of global governance. What are the emerging forms of private authority on the public realm? What are the forms of legitimacy, representation and accountability for these new players?
